First things first!Volkswagen’s plant in Chakan near Pune has recently rolled out its 50000th car ever since the plant was set up two years ago. The 50000th car was a Vento and after achieving this feat, the company is determined to add more cars to its existing line-up at the manufacturing plant.
Volkswagen had set up the Chakan plant near Pune around 2 years ago. The plant currently produces three models, the Volkswagen Polo, Skoda Fabia and the Volkswagen Vento.
Volkswagen currently owns 61 plants globally and the Chakan plant is one with the most modern production facility. The plant follows all the procedures of making cars like press shop, body shop, paint shop and finally the final assembly. With a total financial commitment amounting to 3800 crores, the Pune Chakan plant is the largest investment ever done by a German company till date in India.
